10 Sci-fi Writing Prompts

Welcome back to another Sci-fi Month post! This week, I thought I would create a series of sci-fi writing prompts that are science fiction related. Any author looking for inspiration is welcome to use these!

Note: None of these are from a website and are my own original ideas. If they happen to be similar to a prompt on a site or similar to a story you created, rest assured that that was not intentional. Happy writing!

1) A group of scientists discovers evidence of powerful otherworldly beings living inside a black hole.

2) A town’s happiness and prosperity seem to hinge on the fact that no children are able to speak.

3) The energy of a nuclear power plant goes rogue, creating a powerful being bent on revenge.

4) A group of malevolent robots construct a bomb.

5) A woman teleports to work, only to discover that the teleportation glitched and made a copy of herself.

6) Astronauts wake up one day on their journey through space to see a group of stars coming toward them on their own.

7) An astronaut thinks they landed on a desolate planet before discovering ancient runes in a cliff wall.

8) A voice whispers into everyone’s heads one day, explaining when and how the world will end.

9) In the future, humanity discovers aliens, only they look and act exactly like humans.

10) In a dystopian world, all technology is suddenly banned.
